The Killeen road improvement scheme comprises of approximately 1km of wide single lane road with off road cycle tracks and continouous pedestrian facilities on both sides. The new alignment runs both on and off line and required a high level of detailed traffic management to achieve successful completion. The works also included the construction of a new bridge over the Grand Canal and the re-lining of a considerable section of the Grand Canal. A multitude of ancillary services e.g. drainage, gas, water, telecom, electricity and public lighting were re-aligned, replaced and re-routed, together with all necessary boundary treatments and accommodation works.
